Seven Layer Bars

If you’re looking for a quick, easy and delicious dessert, this is it! These bars are so simple yet decadent. They’re perfectly sweet, chewy and rich. I’ve made several versions, but these are just classic with dark chocolate, white chocolate and peanut butter. Sometimes, I like to add chopped nuts for a little crunch. While in Hawaii a couple years ago, I made a Hawaiian version using white chocolate chips, macadamia nuts and shredded coconut. I’ve also made a S’mores version using marshmallows and Hershey’s bars. You can basically use whatever you like (chopped candy bars, nuts, cookies, sprinkles, toffee, M&Ms etc). Just simply use the crust that’s in this recipe and make sure to pour the sweetened condensed milk over your toppings. Other than that, feel free to get super creative with the filling.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter. Then add to the baking pan and use your fingers to press down the crumbs into an even crust. This takes a little time and might seem like there are not enough crumbs to cover the whole pan but just keep pressing, because there are!

Top the graham cracker crust with the ¾ of the toppings of dark chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and shredded coconut. Then evenly pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ of the toppings. Place in the oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool before cutting.
