Rosemary Grapefruit Cocktail

As you probably know by now, I love a good cocktail! And I’m a sucker for a cocktail with herbs and/or a pretty floral garnish (see my Lemon Lavender Martini recipe here!). Our last house had a huge rosemary bush and I was always looking for new ways to use it. One of the best ways I’ve found was in drinks. (See my Rosemary Lemonade recipe here!). Our current house has a grapefruit tree which gives off a ton of grapefruits, as well as a rosemary bush! This is the perfect recipe to utilize both. This cocktail is so refreshing and is one of my all time favs.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • .5 oz rosemary simple syrup* (recipe below)
  • Rosemary sprig for garnish

Directions:

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway up with ice. Then add the vodka, grapefruit juice, simple syrup and shake. Then pour into your favorite cocktail glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

*Our grapefruits are slightly sweet. If the grapefruits you are using are not sweet at all, add an extra .5 oz of simple syrup.

Rosemary Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 sprigs rosemary

Directions:

To make the rosemary simple syrup, add 1 cup of sugar and one cup of water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and then remove from heat. Add in the rosemary and allow to cool. Then strain and refrigerate until ready to use.
