Romantic Date Night In

Valentine’s Day is just a couple days away! I love all the love surrounding Valentine’s Day. It is so sweet to see everyone’s pictures and posts of appreciation for their loved ones. Restaurants are insanely busy on V-day, and usually require you to make reservations weeks in advance. Though I love getting dressed up and having a date night out, a date night in is one of my favs. It’s also a super romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day. Here is an easy step by step guide on how to prepare a romantic dinner at home.

Decor:

My Husband and I always eat dinner at our dining room table. I like to set the table and have fresh flowers. I do this even when we’re eating take out. I just can’t help it, I like to set the ambiance! But instead of setting our dining room table, I decided to switch it up and set up everything on the balcony upstairs off of our bedroom.

I decorated the table with just a simple white tablecloth, red roses, votive candles and lights. I used our wedding China and cute champagne coupes. For drinks, champagne for my Husband and Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider for me (since I’m pregnant). I set the table before cooking dinner, so that once dinner was ready, we could just walk upstairs and eat!

Menu:

I kept the menu simple and included some of our favs. My Husband is a steak and potatoes kind of guy. He loves filet and he loves bacon so I combined the two and made a bacon wrapped filet. On the side, I made a citrus caprese salad and roasted asparagus. And for dessert, one of my favorite desserts of all time, chocolate covered strawberries. All of these recipes are SO easy to make, look impressive and beautiful and taste delicious.

Sides:

Main:

Dessert:

  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Cooking:

I like to make the chocolate covered strawberries ahead of time and just let them sit out until we’re ready for dessert. I like to use white and dark chocolate. Melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl for 15 seconds. Stir and repeat until chocolate is fully melted. I dip half the strawberries in dark chocolate and half in white. Then I pour a little chocolate in a ziplock bag and cut off the small tip of the corner to use it as a piping bag. Drizzle the chocolate over the strawberries and allow to harden.

I start cooking about 45 minutes to an hour before we plan to eat. Start by roasting the asparagus because it takes the longest to cook. While the asparagus is cooking, assemble the citrus caprese salad. Lastly, cook the steak. Once the steak is ready, the asparagus should also be done. Then you can start plating.

Dinner:

Light some candles, pour some champagne and enjoy!ย After dinner, weย got comfy and put on our robes. Then we lit the fireplace, put on a movie and ate the chocolate covered strawberries. It was the perfect date night in.
