Crostini Trio
Crostini, which is Italian for “little crusts,” are one of my favorite appetizers. They are delicious, pretty and easy to make. They are so versatile, and you can get super creative with the ingredients. I like to top the bread with different types of cheeses, followed by fruits and/or herbs. Most of the crostini I make are inspired by what I have available in the fridge (they’re are a great appetizer for last minute company). I love experimenting with contrasting flavors and textures. These are just a few of my favorites combinations.
Ingredients:
- 1 French baguette
- Olive oil
Pear and Brie:
- Brie cheese
- 1 pear, sliced
- Honey
- 1 tsp thyme
Strawberry and Burrata:
- Burrata
- 5 strawberries, chopped
- 1 tsp basil, chopped
- Balsamic glaze
Fig and Prosciutto:
- Mascarpone cheese
- Fig jam
- Prosciutto slices
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Thinly slice the baguette, place slices onto a baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Toast bread in the oven for about 7 to 10 minutes, until slightly golden brown.
Remove bread from the oven and allow to cool. Arrange slices on a pretty serving platter. Spread 1/3 of the slices with brie cheese, 1/3 with burrata and 1/3 with mascarpone. Top the brie cheese with sliced pear, drizzle with honey and sprinkle with fresh thyme. Top the burrata with chopped strawberries and basil and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Top the mascarpone with fig jam and prosciutto. Serve immediately.
